“A song that reminds you of a best friend”

I have a few best friends, women so important to me that I can’t imagine my life without them. I am blessed with friends and forever grateful that they are in my lives.

That said picking a song to describe  any one of them is hard work, pick them all, just do one? It was a conundrum.

Then the answer came clear to me with a chance encounter of a song. I not a big fan of oldies channels, but I was in a store that played KEARTH 101 and had to go with it (and I admit to singing along under my breath as I shopped.)  Suddenly, there it was. The song  that felt exactly right, catapulted me to an exact place and time with my dear friend Nora, our kids and our husbands. All of us best friends.

I still picture it clearly, because it is on tape. But also because it happened a lot, our kids liked to dance and dance they did. The girl rocking out and the boy doing his best break dancing impression. We four adults laughing long and hard, egging them on and even, sometimes, jumping into the fray and dancing along. It was such a good, magical, and in hindsight so incredibly special time. Every time I hear this song I think of the 6 of us and smile. Sometimes I cry, it makes me long for what cannot be, but mostly I enjoy the memory of good friends and good times. And so much love.

And i would be very remiss if I did not send out this wink to my lovely Susan:
